FITTING A CARPET
If you don't want to take advantage of our cost effective fitting service you can always fit the carpet yourself. It's quite straightforward but is best left to people who are experienced in DIY.

TOOLS REQUIRED
You will need a Stanley knife, scissors, measuring tape, hammer, wide carpet tool and carpet stretcher (all available in-store).
Fit the Carpet Edge Gripper up to the wall with the sloping points facing into the wall, leaving about a quarter of an inch gap all around (if the floor is concrete you will have to drill and plug the gripper down).
Next, fit the underlay up to the edge of the Carpet Edge Gripper, cutting where necessary then staple, glue or tack it down at the edges and seams.
Now fit the carpet. Spread it out in the room and cut it about a quarter of an inch longer than you think you will need (you will most likely have to cut more off later when you stretch the carpet depending how much stretch is in it).
Next, stretch the carpet all around with the Carpet Stretcher and the Carpet Tool. Stretch and tuck the carpet edge into the gap between the skirting board and the gripper, making sure it is tight all over and free of bumps and wrinkles.
If you need to put a seam in the carpet it can be joined with seaming tape and copydex.
Lastly fit a metal edging strip at the doorway, and tack it under the edging to stop it coming free.
